"Lolita: Slave to Entertainment" Documentary Screening

Time: Monday, April 03, 2017 6:00 PM - 8:30 PM PDT

Location: College Creek Community Center

A documentary that discusses the plight of a captive, wild-caught killer whale named Lolita who resides in an illegally sized tank in Miami - and her endangered family - and the efforts being undertaken to retire her to a seaside sanctuary in the area where her mother still resides, alive and healthy - and possible release her entirely to her family (the most well-studied killer whale population on the planet). Free food will be provided.

This event is in solidarity with a global march happening on April 1st to retire her to a sea pen (she'd be in natural waters, but still be cared for and fed until she re-acclimates to her environment).

After the end of the film, there will be an open-minded, respectful discussion on the issue. Filmmaker will be present for a Q/A, presentation as well.

Location: Great Hall
